Values, Mission, & Vision

And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.

Matthew 28:18-20

We Worship with Passion

Our chief and highest end is to worship the triune God—to glorify and fully to enjoy him forever. He is the majestic and sovereign creator of all things. He is “…just, good and does good unto all; and is to be feared, loved, praised, called upon, trusted in, and served, with all the heart and all the soul, and with all the might…”[1] He alone is worthy of all worship; and worship is the very purpose for which he created us. Our passion in worship flows from what we know of God’s character and from the recognition that we are sinners saved by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone for the glory of God alone. Therefore, at Living Water Church, we delight in worshiping God. We worship him individually and we worship him corporately, anticipating the day when we will gather around the throne of God and worship him alongside the people of God from every tribe and language and people and nation.

We Center on the Gospel

At Living Water Church, we love the gospel—the gloriously good news that God sent his Son into the world to save hell-deserving sinners. Our love for the gospel extends beyond gospel events themselves—the incarnation, the cross, the resurrection. It includes the entire counsel of God, because the unifying theme of the Holy Scriptures is God saving sinners through Jesus for his glory. This gospel has been preached by believers for millennia. We preach it every Sunday. We preach it to ourselves every day, and we preach it to the world around us. Just as we embrace the Word of God as the supreme authority in all matters of our faith and conduct, we embrace the gospel revealed in the Word of God as our only hope in this life. It is the power of God unto salvation, and it transforms every aspect of our lives—our aspirations, our motivations, our decisions, everything.

We Disciple in Community

At Living Water Church, we are engaged in the Great Commission. We form disciples of all peoples, baptizing them and teaching them to obey everything Jesus commanded. We are a community of disciples, living life together and growing together in the knowledge and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Such growth is marked by holiness, unity, authenticity, love, and the practice of good works done for the glory of God and for the flourishing of the church body and for reaching the world with the gospel.

Mission & Vision

At Living Water we are serious about being a church that rightly worships God and loves his people. Because of that our mission and vision statements are intentionally crafted to help our people understand who we are and what we do.

Our Mission

Forming passionate followers of Jesus by proclaiming the gospel of the glory of God

The idea of forming passionate followers speaks to more than just discipleship, Bible studies, and ministry activity. From the moment of salvation until we are eternally joined to our heavenly Father and his Church, we believe that our job as shepherds is to help God's people see Christ formed in them (Gal. 4:19). This is done as they learn to follow Jesus by staying connected to his word and his people. Because of this, every time our church gathers, the Gospel (which is a message of the finished work of Christ on our behalf) is proclaimed, and the glory of God (which encompasses all of life) is declared. This truth is expressed in deep Godly affections in all seasons of life.

Our Vision

Advancing the multiplication of gospel-saturated churches among all peoples, starting in Vancouver

In light of the mission of Living Water Church, we believe that there is need for more churches that are saturated with the gospel of Jesus Christ. A gospel-saturated church is a place where gospel doctrine (teaching) and gospel culture (loving and caring for people) intersect. Since we need more churches that know the gospel and live in a manner worthy of the gospel we desire to be part of a movement to bring this to all peoples, starting in Vancouver where we are. But it isn't enough for us to have this kind of church, rather we need these kinds of churches all around the world. With an emphasis on missions around the globe and a desire to multiply in our county, we will participate in planting churches, funding churches, and growing churches starting from an outflow of the ministries at Living Water Church.
