The mission of Living Water Church is to form passionate followers of Jesus by proclaiming the gospel of the glory of God.
Our Mission
The idea of forming passionate followers of Jesus is more than just offering bible studies and ministry programs. We believe that from the moment of new birth until the day we step into glory our job is to labor to see Christ formed in you (Gal.4:19), giving rise to God-glorifying affections of the heart and a life that pleases him. To that end, every time we gather, we proclaim the gospel – the message of the finished work of Christ on our behalf – and the glory of God.
The vision at Living Water Church is to advance the multiplication of gospel-saturated churches among all peoples starting in Vancouver.
Our Vision
We believe there is need for more local churches that are overflowing with the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ. A gospel-saturated church is a local body of believers where gospel doctrine (teaching) and gospel culture (loving and caring for people) intersect. We desire to be part of a movement that takes the gospel to the nations, starting here in Vancouver. It isn’t enough for us to be a gospel-saturated church. We want to see churches like ours multiplying around the world. To do that, we will actively participate in planting churches, funding churches, and growing churches as an overflow of our own gospel-saturated ministries.
We Worship with Passion
Our chief and highest end is to worship the triune God—to glorify and to enjoy him forever. He is the majestic and sovereign creator of all things. He is “…just, good and does good unto all; and is to be feared, loved, praised, called upon, trusted in, and served, with all the heart and all the soul, and with all the might…" He alone is worthy of all worship; and worship is the very purpose for which he created us. Our passion in worship flows from what we know of God’s character and from the recognition that we are sinners saved by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone for the glory of God alone. Therefore, at Living Water Church, we delight in worshiping God. We worship him individually and we worship him corporately, anticipating the day when we will gather around the throne of God and worship him alongside the people of God from every tribe and language and people and nation.
We Center on the Gospel
At Living Water Church, we love the gospel—the gloriously good news that God sent his Son into the world to save hell-deserving sinners. Our love for the gospel extends beyond gospel events themselves—the incarnation, the cross, the resurrection. It includes the entire counsel of God because the unifying theme of the Holy Scriptures is God saving sinners through Jesus for his glory. This gospel has been preached by believers for millennia. We preach it every Sunday. We preach it to ourselves every day, and we preach it to the world around us. Just as we embrace the Word of God as the supreme authority in all matters of our faith and conduct, we embrace the gospel revealed in the Word of God as our only hope in this life. It is the power of God unto salvation, and it transforms every aspect of our lives—our aspirations, our motivations, our decisions, everything.
We Disciple in Community
At Living Water Church, we are engaged in the Great Commission. We form disciples of all peoples, baptizing them and teaching them to obey everything Jesus commanded. We are a community of disciples, living life together and growing together in the knowledge and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Such growth is marked by holiness, unity, authenticity, love, and the practice of good works done for the glory of God and for the flourishing of the church body and for reaching the world with the gospel.
